Being an Army Brat, my family moved quite a bit growing up.  Since we moved so much we did not keep unwanted stuff.  One of the few things from my childhood is this necklace.  While visiting my mother's family in France I traded jewelry with my cousin Bernadette. She got a pair of my tacky cheap earrings and I got her necklace.

I don't think it has any money value but I love it. That's me wearing it and checking out the back of my hair!

The mechanic saw on line how to cook corn on the cob the easy way.  Microwave the corn in its husk.  When cool the husk and the corn silk just slide off.

Dinner...

Tilapia, potatoes with onions and Cannellini beans, corn and a salad.

Interesting

I am still putting in long hours at work. Doing more and harder tax returns.
Only 34 more working days until April 15!

We have had one and a quarter inches of rain since Sunday.  I wanted to go down to the lake to show everyone that the lake isn't always gorgeous, but it was raining hard and I didn't want to get wet before work.  So this is taken from the sliding glass door.

Last week I saw these pins on pinterest.

So...

 Dinner tonight...

Ground pork patties, cooked with onions, bell peppers and pineapple chunks.  At the end of cooking, I tossed in some cooked pumpkin cubes and cucumber slices in yogurt.

Rainy Monday

Another cool tree picture from pinterest.

It has been a rainy Monday, not much happening today.

Thought you might like to know what the mechanic is reading these days.  Well, he is on a Pat Conroy binge.

He started with South of Broad and liked it so much he reread Beach Music.  He then had me order him the Prince of Tides.  I, of course have read all three, as I love Pat Conroy.

I have just finished listening to Let the Great World Spin.  It was great.  Lots of different people's lives (all in New York City)  and how the author ties them all together. God, what a mind it takes to do that.

Since that was such a heavy story, I am now listening to Everyone Worth Knowing, a trashy novel that I am loving.  It is by the author of The Devil Wears Prada.

Dinner tonight...

Chicken thighs, millet & brown rice soba noodles, corn and string beans.

Projects

The retired twin's first home project was replacing the canvas top on his portable boat lift.  He replaced it with metal roofing.

He is not one to sit around.  He completed it the first week of his retirement.

I received this picture from my son's boss.  He and his wife are visiting relatives in Naples.
Bird of Paradise...

Dinner tonight...

Shrimp, red kale with corn over couscous and a salad.

Saturday

The best part of today was a  picture my son-in-law sent me of my two year old granddaughter at her first gymnastic class.

For dinner tonight I made a Waldorf salad from my new cookbook.

I love using my appliances. My mother bought me the citrus juicer several years ago.

TGIF

While the world was working the retired twin was fishing...

He caught Sunshine Bass. They are a hybrid fish that don't reproduce. They are about one and a half pound each.  FYI...he released them.

This is his view...

This is my view...It's going to be a rainy night in Florida...I hope.

I am working tomorrow.

 Dinner...

Salad... with my dressing mixed with yogurt.  I got the idea from my new salad cookbook.

and barbecue chicken.

Thursday...the day before Friday

This is my view every morning when I am on my treadmill. Lately, 6:45 seems to be the magical time for a beautiful sunrise.

The lake was like a mirror.

I love how you can see the clouds and trees reflected on the lake.

As you can tell I did not want to go to work today, thus my many trips down to the lake.  Was I late to work? Yes...did I care...well yes, I hate being late to anything.  Does it matter in the long run...not really.

Dinner tonight...

Steak, sweet potato rounds, broccoli with carrots and cucumber slices in yogurt.
