Thursday

While putting some utensil away I found something my daughter forgot to pack for her trip home.  I am amazed how she and my son-in-law can pack their SUV with all the stuff they required for four days away with two kids and two dogs.  They rarely forget anything, but this time they did...

My grandson has just started to want to eat meat.  Here he was watching the mechanic (grandpa) carve the London Broil.  (the mechanic does all the grilling and carving) Connor ate quite a bit of it.

My granddaughter is quite the foodie...she eats everything... slowly and enjoys every bite!

Well, I guess the mechanic has been good this week, another customer brought him something.
Under the wrapping is a deer ham.  (duck tape courtesy of the mechanic)
Guess I will be looking up a good venison recipe.

Dinner tonight...

Apple, carrots and raisin salad. Raisins were left over from the grand kids visit. The grand kids were on a raisin kick this visit, it was applesauce last visit. Acorn squash with onions and kidney beans. And finally a pork chop that  I marinated all day in vinegar, oil and spices...grilled.

Spring like weather

While some places are having nasty weather, its been pretty nice here.  In the 80's most days.
This is a shout out to the mechanics' cousin Beth, who lives out West, where it's been cold. She is a Florida born and raised girl missing our weather...

Red Bud Tree

Dogwood Tree
Azalea bush

This tree isn't in bloom, but I pass it everyday going to work...really pretty.

Live Oak Tree

Color is everywhere...bad news is... the nasty weather most places in the East have been experiencing is due to hit us tonight.

A good customer of the mechanic brought him some lettuce greens that she grows...

So dinner was...

Fresh salad greens with tomatoes, green bean and potato salad and tilapia fillets.

I bought this new seasoning mix for another recipe...I tried it on the fish and we liked it.  The mechanic likes tilapia because it doesn't taste like fish but I find it does need a little bit of help in the flavor department..

Lakes and food

My son's job takes him all over our and nearby county's. He sends me pictures he knows I will like...

North Central Florida is covered with lakes.

The mechanic stopped at his favorite road side vegetable stand.  He swears this guy grows the best strawberries and tomatoes he has eaten since his childhood.

So dinner was...salads...tomatoes with mayonnaise...broccoli with marinated baby artichoke hearts...green lettuce, cucumber and bell pepper salad.

And the mechanic grilled some lamb chops.

We even had desert ...your guess

BIRTHDAY PARTY

My mother will turn 80 year's old tomorrow.  We had a family party for her on Saturday.  All her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were there to celebrate.  We had lunch at the Red Lobster, her favorite restaurant.

13 adults and 5 children (David missing...at college)

Lots of Lobsters, shrimp, fish and chicken to eat.

After two hours the geese were ready to see us leave.
Back at baby brother's house for cake, champagne and a special gift.

Getting Ready

The grand kids and their parents are coming for a visit...So we have been cleaning and cooking to get ready.
Found one of my grand kids toys while cleaning.   Angry Bird...

Reminded me of a cute picture I took last time they were here...

Looks like Angry Bird underwear to me!

Made some peanut butter bites for the kids. One cup almonds, vanilla, cinnamon, one cup pitted dates and 1/2 cup peanut butter. Thumbs up says the mechanic.

And chocolate, coconut and peanut clusters for the adults.

I was fortunate enough to have seen how close Jupiter was to the moon on January 21.  The moon had a halo around it and Jupiter was so close.  The mechanic was in bed and missed it.  I tried to take a picture...can't see Jupiter.

I went into town early this morning for a dental appointment...got to see a beautiful sun coming up at the airport.
