Straw Bale Gardening

Our first attempt at straw bale gardening, we ended up with 6 straw bales, 4 bags of manure, 6 bags of dirt, 10 tomato plants...the learning process as begun...

Placement of the straw...

added the manure...tad bit smelly...

Gary alternated one bag of manure then one bag of dirt...used an iron rake to spread it around...

Watered it good...

 

The next day he planted tomatoes...his favorite...

 He is thinking of adding some kind of border to hold the dirt in...

 Dinner...

Pan fried flounder, potato cubs, shredded zucchini and a salad
