Our sad boat story

About this time last year while at work the mechanic got a phone call from our neighbor who works from home. "Gary, I hate to tell you this but your boat has sunk, it's under water"... Words every boat owner never wants to hear.

As far as we could see there was no reason for it to have sunk.  The weather was perfect, no wind, no storm.  The boat was fine early in the morning.

The mechanic hired his friend and yard guy to get the boat to shore.  So, with a come-a-long and lots of muscle, it took Shawn all day, but he was successful.  He said he never wants to have to do that again!

After inspecting the boat, it was determined that the boat trailer roller had punctured a hole in the bottom of the boat. 

The mechanic's tech plugged the hole with a filler and then fiber-glassed over the hole filler.  The engine was cleaned out and carburetors were rebuilt.

 

The twin delivered the boat to us yesterday and today we will have a maiden voyage.

It was a beautiful start to a three day weekend! The sun was so bright I had to hide it behind trees.

And a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our gorgeous great niece, Layla.  A big one year old.

This is our pool solar ball close up, we just love it.

But...I need to be careful taking night pictures as I almost fell and accidentally took this picture.

After a few days of rain the frogs are everywhere, I rescue at least 7 a day from our pool.  This morning only one but he/she was big.

My boss has a bird feeder outside his office window.  It attracts lots of birds and squirrels.  While he  was at lunch I got my phone to take a picture of a pretty female Cardinal at the feeder.  It's hard to see her since I was using my phone and rushing to take the picture.

We had a lot of fog this morning...

We only had 3/4" of rain today.  The ground absorbed yesterday's rain well.

 So, I decided to walk down to the lake and what a gorgeous view I had.  Nature is spectacular.  When you think of all it can do such as the Oklahoma tornado :( and then it gives us such a view.

I missed a hawk picture and I have been trying to get a good fish swirl.

Dinner...The mechanic ended up eating just applesauce and noodles.  He went to the dentist yesterday for a crown and his mouth is in pain.

Pork chop, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms and  onions over Soba noodles.

Monday's Thunderstorm

The mechanic and I arrived home before the monsoon hit. The storm came from the south but I liked this picture because the yellow wildflowers are growing on our road, all in a straight line.

 We had 4.5 inches of rain in about one hour.  We had water coming in the kitchen where an outside door used to be.

We had some lighting and thunder.  We lost Direct TV...so we had conversation during dinner.

The lake is into the yard.

Dinner...it was "A" night...

I had a salad instead of the fish...The mechanic was given more lettuce.

And today I bought his favorite...Red Leaf.

 And I had on hand my favorite Romaine. If you haven't figured it out by now I love lettuce.
I wash it, spin it, then dry it on a towel then store it in a ziplock with paper towels.

We watched the Preakness Horse Race... My favorite sport as it is quick and it reminds me of the mechanic's uncle Brink who had a race horse rehabilitation business on Lake Faye.
